HPC Training & Education Centre - Support Services
Infrastructure Support
Materials and services will be provided to enable HEI's to establish operating
environments at their own sites and provide a point of contact where expert advice
can be obtained. Limited access will be provided for some of the more expensive
and specialised equipment that is available within the Centre. The centre aims to
provide access to the HPC training and education facilities by other HE
institutions both within the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The Training and Education Centre are currently developing courses that will cover the system aspects of configuring the platforms on which the training will be given:
- Packaged products
- Cluster User Environment
- Advice service on machine and software availability
- Access to local
The centre provides materials and tools to enable the development of tailored
courses. The systems on which the courses run is connected to the campus network
allowing
access from any point in the University that has a network connection. As Queen's
is a hub on the SuperJanet network access from other Higher Education Institutions with a Janet connection is possible, although special permission will be required for extended access.
Information and Consultancy service
The technology within the HPC arena is changing at a rapid rate. In order that the
Materials that are being produced by the centre are applicable to the current state
of the technology, our staff will keep abreast of market trends in hardware,
software and user environments. Information collected will be made available to the
user community. In addition the Centre will give advice to anyone who may be
involved in a procurement or using HPC equipment to solve a particular problem.
